Our husband & wife operated cattery is located in Gaithersburg, MD, 10 mi. from Washington DC and 40 mi. from Baltimore, Maryland.
The
name
of the cattery has been registered with CFA since 2004.
Our start as Maine Coon breeders began when we fell in love with these cats at one of CFA shows. In 2002, we bought our first female kitten. She was named Kiara, after the daughter in the Lion King movie, and it was the beginning of our small cattery. Currently we have 3 females and a stud. CacaponCoons are full members of our family. They have never been caged and are free to choose their own spots around the house.
The first part of the cattery's name, "Cacapon" (pronounced CaCApon), is a derivative of a Shawnee Indian word meaning "Healing Waters", also shares its name with a river and our place in the "Wild, Wonderful" West Virginia where we have a farm.
